They became settlers in Thirlstane in the early sixties, but when Nook opened up around 1870 they took up a grant of 100 acres and moved there, erecting a two storey house under the Badgers. He was an early representative on the Tarleton Road Trust. Later, in the mid 1880’s they moved to South Spreyton where he built an identical house to the one he left at Nook.

William was born about 1849 and died on 5 Nov 1910 in Spreyton aged about 50.
