Herbert married Annie Malvina Bonney, daughter of William Bonney and Ann Braid, on 29 Mar 1916 in Presbyterian Church, Barrington. Annie was born on 16 Aug 1892 in Mersey, Devonport and died on 23 Oct 1974 at age 82.

WEDDING BELLS. A wedding was solemnised on Wednes- day last in the Presbyterian Church, Sheffield, by Rev. D. S. Jones, of Devonport. The contracting parties were Herbert John, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cocker, "Bellevue," Lower Barrington, and Annie Malvina Bonney, grand-daughter of Mrs. Braid, sen., of West Kentish. The church was decorated by friends of the bride, a large wedding bell being suspended over the bridal pair. As the bride entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr. J. Braid, who gave her away, the hymn "O Perfect Love" was sung by the choir, and as the bridal party left the church the "Wedding March" was played by Miss Dalziel. The bride was attired in a dress of ivory paillette silk made pinafore fashion, with ivory ninon under-bodice, finished with spray of orange blossom, the double skirt being ruched at the waist. A tulle veil, with spray of orange blossom, was worn, also the gift of the bridegroom, a necklet of amethysts and pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of choice white flowers and fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Amy Cocker (sister of the bridegroom) wore a shell pink crepe de chene dress, the bodice crossover style, and corded, the full skirt corded and ruched at the hem, and hat of black panne velvet, underlined with pink. She were the bridegroom's gift (a gold bangle), and carried a bouquet of white flowers and fern, tied with pale pink ribbons. The little maid of honour, Miss Saidee Morey (niece of the bride groom) wore a cream silk dress finished with pearls, and large white bow on hair, and carried a handpainted white satin cushion (the gift of Mrs. D. Hope) for the bride to kneel upon. The bride- groom's gift to her was a gold lily of the valley brooch. The bridegroom was supported by his brother (Mr. C. Cocker). The bride's gift to the groom was a silver shaving mug and brush. After the ceremony the newly-wedded couple left per motor for Launceston, where the honeymoon will be spent, the bride travelling in a navy cloth costume with cream vest and white felt hat. The pre- sents included several substantial cheques. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Cocker will be at Lower Barrington.
